Gym memberships, and home treadmills are the staple of middle class America. The truth is though that we are getting less exercise than out parents, and our grand parents got. Back in the day almost no one had gym memberships or a treadmill at their house. Maybe it was because the jobs took more physical exertion, or they had fewer labor saving devices. Maybe they just walked more than we do these days. What ever the case, they knew a lot less about physical fitness in general than we do now. It makes it seem tough to get rid of stomach fat.
This lack of exercise extends to the youth of the day that is for sure. T.V., computers, all kinds of devices, and video gamers rule the roost. Schools are cutting gym class from their program, they are building schools without play grounds. This certainly promotes being less active. Not many people are doing fat loss exercises.
The food that we eat is a lot different than the foods that our grandparents ate too. The rise in the fast food industry, and super markets in has made us a nation of processed food consumers. The more that a food is processed the more toxic chemicals that are in it, and the less healthy that it becomes. The carbs that our grand parents ate where less processed. The body was better able to use them for fuel rather than storing them for fat. There are many factors that point to the reason that we are so over weight, and out of shape in this day.
